Get Mindfuel is a community interest company based in Newcastle that promotes wellbeing and positive mental health through the provision of specialist bespoke training, coaching and consultancy services.

Get Mindfuel aims to support the development of knowledge, skills and understanding about mental health and wellbeing within our communities. Our starting premise: we all have mental health and whether we are aware of this or not, we all must nurture our mental health.

All of practitioners are HCPC- registered clinical psychologists, and our approach is underpinned by principles of community psychology and positive psychology, as well as incorporating skills-based approaches from a range of other therapies.

Please take a look at our What We Do page to find out about the benefits that Get Mindfuel can bring to your organisation.

What We Do

At Get Mindfuel we want to ensure that what we do has an impact and a lasting legacy for our clients and our partners. We are committed to supporting organisations to build capability and capacity in order to address mental health.

We work with you, your staff and service users/clients in order to develop training programmes and courses based on the most up-to-date evidence, using creative approaches and tailored specifically to your needs.

We believe in the value of lifelong learning. Our approach is based on building the skills of your staff, recognising that you have relationships, knowledge and consistency in your area of work. All our projects seek to equip organisations with a larger toolbox. In return, we hope that the experience is so positive that you come back for more!

We spend time listening in order to understand what you need so that what we bring to your organisation is relevant and responsive. We know that time is valuable and any investment you make needs to demonstrate a comprehensive return.

Our training and the courses we have developed have a positive track record in terms of outcomes not just for staff but also for the end-users, whether course participants, service users or clients.

The field of psychology is vast and includes many schools of thought and approaches. At Get Mindfuel we combine our knowledge and understanding of Clinical Psychology, Positive Psychology and Community Psychology approaches in order to inform our work, as well as using skills-based approaches drawn from a range of therapies. If you'd like to learn more about these specific approaches, you can read about them here or get in touch with us.

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.
— Margaret Mead

I established Get Mindfuel in order to become part of the change that I wanted to see in how we as a society address mental health and emotional wellbeing. I am passionate about the application of psychology to the wider community and wanted to provide a service which provides a prevention and early intervention approach to mental health, rather than one focused on pathology.

At Get Mindfuel we pride ourselves on being able to offer a flexible and dynamic approach designed specifically to suit each particular group of clients and partners whom we work with. We focus on a high standard of delivery, ethics and sustainability, with an additional commitment to offer affordable services to organisations and projects that may not otherwise be able to access this type of support. We seek to collaborate, co-produce and connect. We're not interested in ticking boxes. We want to work with you to make positive changes in how we approach mental wellbeing.

We are always looking for new projects to become involved in so if you have any ideas or questions get in touch and have a conversation with us. Below are some examples of projects we have been involved in...

Energise Your Mind

This project was generously funded by the Big Lottery Fund's Awards for All. Working alongside staff and young people from Depaul UK we developed an eight week wellbeing programme designed to be delivered within a group setting by non-mental health professionals. Each session lasts approximately an hour and a half (including a short break).

The ethos of the programme is about supporting young people to deliver their own skills in addressing and managing wellbeing. We provide information, introduce new skills and offer a space in which to share ideas, through a range of activities, exercises and discussions.

The programme materials and pilot evaluation report are available to download below.  In order to access the manual and handouts we ask that you leave us some contact details.

Positive Psychology

We were commissioned as the lead organisation to work alongside ARCH Recovery College (TEWV NHS Foundation Trust), Newcastle Recovery College (NTW NHS Foundation Trust) and Moving Forward (Mental Health Concern) to co-produce a Positive Psychology Course alongside people who have experienced mental illness. A ten week Positive Psychology informed programme has just been piloted within each of the three services, covering a range of topics including Identifying and Using Strengths, Positive Emotions, Kindness & Gratitude, and Mindset.

The programme materials are available to download at the link below from the Northern England Mental Health and Dementia Network.

Working with Nexus Metro we developed a participatory public arts project which sought to explore how we speak about things when words don’t come easily. Our first pop up was at Gateshead Interchange in January 2019, take a look here for some of the feedback from the day.

Get in touch with us to arrange a meeting or phone call to discuss your specific needs. We will then offer some ideas about what training we think would suit your organisation with a general idea of course content and aims, as well as the associated costs. Sometimes clients aren't exactly sure what they need! Because we don't offer 'one size fits all' training packages, but rather programmes specific to your organisation's needs, it can be difficult to summarize all the types of training that we can offer, although here are a few examples...

Wellbeing Sessions
